Race bibs drive me crazy. I know they’re a fairly small annoyance in comparison to the other hurdles between you and the finish line—such as long porta-potty waits, midrun chafing, or a tanked hydration strategy. Still, I’d much rather run bib-free.
For now, it seems bibs aren’t going anywhere soon for most races. So, I’m sharing this tip to help make wearing them a bit more tolerable. It doesn’t eliminate the haggling with those safety pins, but it does prevent your bib from rustling and sliding as much while you’re on the move. (In fact, many cyclists use this method to keep their bibs from whipping around on the track.) Especially during windy races and fast miles in rain or bad weather, a properly pinned race bib makes for one less stressor so you can focus on the competition.
