This week we hit the trail in Altra’s most well-known shoe, the Lone Peak 8. Moderately cushioned for both trail running and thru-hiking, the Lone Peak 8 has all the brand’s signature features: a zero-drop offset, Altra’s original footshape, and a wide toebox for wiggle room. A ripstop mesh upper and MaxTrac outsole enhances the shoe’s durability when the path gets gnarly.

Our tester and guest this week was RW+ member Anne Bennett, who lives in La Grange, Illinois. Bennett runs with the Naperville Running Company and—like many of our guests—is a fan of the Brooks Ghost. See how she fares testing out the Lone Peak 8 by watching the full episode.

Previously, we talked about Reebok’s Floatzig X1 with RW+ member Justin Piercy. Hear what Piercy had to say about this zigzagged super shoe.

If you’re a Runner’s World+ member, run here to test shoes and appear on How Was Your Run. Not a member yet? Then run here.
