Adam Campbell absolutely destroyed the world record for running a marathon in a business suit by clocking 2:35:53, good for sixth overall, at Sunday's Victoria Marathon in British Columbia. The previous record was 3:24:46.
Before the race, Campbell said he was shooting for sub-3:00. He met that goal and then some, finishing less than seven minutes off his PR of 2:29:11. "It's a beautiful day but definitely a little hot for suit marathoning," Campbell said after.
On a Letsrun.com thread, Campbell wrote that he wore an off-the-rack suit and cotton dress shirt. "I left the top button on my suit and shirt done up and the tie knotted and pulled tight the whole way," Campbell noted.
