The body found near a construction site in Liberty, Missouri has been confirmed as that of missing marathoner Chad Rogers, according to the Kansas City Star.
Local police announced yesterday that the body has been identified and that there are no signs of foul play. An investigation into the cause of death is still underway.
Rogers, 30, left his house on Monday evening, July 22, wearing a bright orange visor and red running shoes, and didn't return. Rogers didn't carry identification or a phone, and didn't announce his planned route before leaving.
On Friday, a construction worker discovered a body in a portable toilet in an area near where Rogers was thought to have been running.
Rogers was married and a stay-at-home dad to his 13-month-old son. He was a member of the Liberty Running Club and ran 4:16 at last December’s St. Jude Memphis Marathon.
A memorial service is scheduled for Friday, August 2.
