Recently, Guardians of the Galaxy and Jurassic World star Chris Pratt partnered with Michelob Ultra (you’ve probably seen him in their commercials recently) to surprise some runners with some free beer... and a little something extra.
The 39-year-old actor met with members of Achilles International, a nonprofit that helps athletes with disabilities train and compete in mainstream races. One of the runners is a veteran with a prosthetic leg.
“I lost my leg from a roadside bomb in Afghanistan,” the man said in a video for Michelob Ultra. “I never thought I would be accomplishing these things.”
After the group came back from a run, they went into a bar and were greeted by the A-lister. Beers in hand, Pratt went around and asked about their race experiences. Members of Team Ultra then came out and announced they would all participate together in the New York City Marathon in November.
Well, everyone except Pratt. He told The Associated Press that he looks funny when he runs for a long period of time. He blames it on a childhood injury when he broke his femur. But, Pratt also said he was now thinking about doing a marathon one day.
Though he’s done some running on the treadmill lately, so maybe he’ll become the next Tom Cruise.

After a summer internship with Runner’s World in 2017, McGee has somehow convinced the team to let her keep writing for them as a freelancer. Her work for both Runner’s World and Bicycling consists mostly of news and human interest pieces. Her favorite stories to tell are ones of “ordinary” people doing extraordinary things through running and cycling, whether accomplishing personal goals, overcoming severe trials, or transforming their communities. Her writing has also appeared on ACTIVE and Paste Magazine. When she’s not running or eating, you can probably find her still eating.
