Grace Sugut Kipchoge’s prayers were answered this weekend when her husband of 17 years, two-time Olympic champion Eliud Kipchoge, broke his own world record at the Berlin Marathon in 2:01:09.

She revealed in a new interview with Nation Sport that she fasted for seven days and prayed for a miracle to happen at the race.

“I congratulate my husband for again making history by lowering his world record time. I was in prayer mood for the last one week and I fasted for a miracle to happen. I’m happy that victory has come home,” she said.

She watched the competition live on television with her children and relatives at home in Elgon View estate in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County in Kenya.

The couple has three children: Lynn, Griffin and Gordon
