Norwegian names like Jakob Ingebrigtsen and Karsten Warholm will be top-of-mind for the fans as the Diamond League returns Thursday in Oslo, Norway, for the Bislett Games.

Since 1965, 25 world records have been broken at the meet, with athletes like Seb Coe, Steve Ovett, and Haile Gebrselassie going down as defining figures in the event’s history. Is the men’s 1500-meter world record the next to go down?

Ingebrigtsen could very well challenge Hicham El Guerrouj’s time of 3:26.00 from 1998 on Thursday. The Norwegian set a world record in the two-mile race at the Paris Diamond League meeting last week, clocking 7:54.10. The Olympic champion will run his inaugural outdoor 1500-meter race of the season, facing off against Abel Kipsang and Timothy Cheruiyot of Kenya in a world-class field. That race will go off at 3:50 p.m. ET.

How to Watch

In the U.S., NBC has the rights to the Diamond League this year, and Thursday's meet will be streamed live on Peacock from 2 to 4 p.m. ET.

Three Other Events to Watch

Women’s 400-Meter Hurdles (2:04 p.m. ET)

In early June, Femke Bol of the Netherlands set a world-leading 400-meter hurdle time of 52.43 in Italy. She’ll be pushed by American heptathlete Anna Hall and Ukraine’s Anna Ryzhykova.

Men’s 400 Meters (2:15 p.m. ET)

Wayde van Niekerk, the 400-meter world-record holder from South African, began his 2023 season strongly, recording his fastest time since 2017 at the national championships in April. He will face tough competition from four athletes who have achieved sub-44-second times, including Kirani James (London 2012 Olympic champion), Anthony Zambrano, and Zambian standout Muzala Samukonga.

Men’s 400-Meter Hurdles (3:39 p.m. ET)

Karsten Warholm, the 400-meter hurdle world record holder from Norway, will make his outdoor debut, hoping to start fresh after a year of injuries. He is out to avenge his world title loss to Alison Dos Santos, where he placed seventh, ending his winning streak of 22 races since September 2018. He will face world bronze medallist Trevor Bassitt and American contenders CJ Allen and Khallifa Rosser.
