This week, Saucony released a new, limited-edition women’s shoe in collaboration with Black Girls RUN! featuring an exclusive new vibrant colorway—which quickly sold out online and in stores. After a three-year partnership with the group, The Black Girls RUN! x Saucony Endorphin Speed 4 is the brand’s first collaboration with BGR!, a group that raises awareness of health disparities within the Black community and motivates women across the country to increase their representation on the track, the trail, and the streets.
“The goal of BGR! is to empower Black women by encouraging them to focus on their well-being through physical fitness, by getting out and running, and by challenging the misconception that Black women don’t run,” said Jay Ell Alexander, owner and chief executive officer of BGR!
In a post on Instagram, BGR! founder and CEO Jay Ell Alexander praised the community for “breaking the internet” during the mad rush to grab a pair of the pink and black trainers. “Thank you to everyone celebrating our shoe launch this week, purchased a shoe, scrambled to find their size and for all my family and friends who traveled to celebrate with me last night!”
The shoe features everything we’ve come to expect from the company’s Endorphin Collection, including Speedroll, Pwrrun PB midsole compound, and a winged nylon plate for enhanced training and race day performance. The shoes also come with a custom keychain and string bag for carrying in style.
“The BGR! x Saucony Endorphin Speed 4 is more than just a great running shoe: it represents a shared vision for uplifting a running community that values and celebrates inclusivity and diversity,” said Joy Allen-Altimare, Saucony’s global chief marketing officer. “Now in our third year of collaboration with BGR!, we’re proud to bring this shoe to life with an organization that's making a true impact.”
In comments to Ell Alexander’s post, runners reported having issues with the Saucony website while trying to secure a pair of the shoes, but it was worth the trouble. “Refreshed 15x. But I got ‘em!” wrote one happy customer.
The BGR! edition may be sold out on Saucony’s website, but you can still find a few pairs at Fleet Feet.
