Tyler Post, 39, a physical education teacher in Stockton, California, completed his quest to complete marathons in all 50 states when he ran the Mount Desert Island Maine Marathon on October 16. "I'm never going to say I like pain--that's not what I'm about--but I like to challenge myself," explains Post. "When something's tough, I say, 'Yeah, I need to try that.'" He didn't do his first marathon until 2005, and since then he's been in 26.2-milers with as few as 41 entrants (in Nebraska) and as many as 38,000 (in Chicago) and run in temperatures ranging from 22 to 84 degrees. He's seen moose, bald eagles, and wild turkeys while marathoning. "When things aren't going right--it might be inside, might be your body, might be stuff in life--you just have to keep going," surmises Post. "The running isn't always easy, but you just have to follow the course and keep plugging along." More
