With 50 years of covers in the Runner’s World archives, and the benefit of hindsight, it’s clear that not every story in the magazine has been spectacular. Some have been embarrassing—in a “what were we thinking” kind of way. In fact, it’s hard to believe some stories that made it into our pages were even real.

With that in mind, we’ve put together a little quiz. Below are snippets of 17 different covers with cover lines that we’ve circled. Some are real, from actual stories we ran.
