Lauren Wright was once a new runner who vowed to complete 26 races by her 26th birthday. Then she hit that goal—and didn’t stop.

Wright has now finished over 100 races and counting, but each has brought its own challenges: How, for example, do you keep your head in the game and your morale high for yet another 26.2-miler? For Wright, turns out all she needed was some new friends who were also seeking a little extra motivation of their own.

Wright is one of 10 Runner’s World+ members to take part in the first “Train With Runner’s World” program, in which RW editors and experts provide participants with customized training plans, advice, and a built-in community leading up to a major race. Over the course of 16 weeks last year, Wright and her fellow RW+ members trained for the 2023 New York City Marathon and kept each other going the whole time.

“It makes a huge difference,” Wright tells host Quintin George in the new episode of Runner’s World’s video podcast series, which you can watch above or on YouTube. “It would have been hard, if not impossible, to curate the same type of community” without her RW family, she says.
