Nike has unveiled two new additions to its Vomero road-running shoe franchise: the Vomero Premium and the Vomero Plus, with both shoes focused on offering a cushioned and comfortable running experience.

Earlier this year, Nike announced that it was restructuring its whole running shoe line-up to make choosing the right shoe more intuitive and less time-consuming for runners. The line-up would consist of three clear categories that derived from Nike’s mainstay franchises dedicated to cushioning: Pegasus, Vomero and Structure. Within each category there would be three options: an ‘Icon’ model, to anchor the category, along with a ‘Plus’ and ‘Premium’ silhouette.

Nike kicked off the re-launch of the Vomero line back in February with the Vomero 18, and now the Premium and Plus models are set to follow this August and October, respectively.

The Vomero Premium has been designed to meet the needs of elite marathon runners, who traditionally use a combination of super shoes and soft trainers while preparing for a race. It combines ZoomX foam with exposed Air Zoom units in the heel and forefoot to deliver what Nike says is the ‘ultimate sensation of maximum cushioning’, and features a whopping 55mm stack height in the heel.

Speaking to the gigantic stack, Nike’s Expert Product Line Manager Ashley Campbell explains that the Vomero Premium is designed to provide a similar sensation to the anti-gravity treadmills used by elite runners, including Faith Kipyegon, who has been training with the Vomero Premium ahead of her Breaking4 attempt this week.

‘Anti-gravity treadmills supplement an athlete’s body weight so they can run with less impact, which our athletes tell us means more miles with less recovery time,’ she says. ‘The Vomero Premium aims to provide a high amount of impact reduction.’

Meanwhile, the Vomero Plus advances the comfort, cushioning and responsiveness of the Vomero 18. It combines the cushioning technology of the Vomero franchise with learnings from the Invincible 3, featuring a full-length ZoomX foam midsole that sits at 45mm, an increased rocker geometry and a wide platform.

The Nike Vomero Plus will be available from 7 August 2025, while the Vomero Premium will be available at select retail partners from 2 October 2025 and globally from 16 October 2025.
