Love was in the air on Saturday morning, as runner Mark Valentine got down on one knee, with an engagement ring and a bouquet of flowers and waited for his partner of four years, Stacey Green to reach the finish line of her 100th parkrun.
Green can be seen running towards Valentine, wearing a sash and carrying a balloon celebrating her 100th parkrun. When she spots Valentine down on one knee, she immediately says yes, gives him a kiss, then runs on to finish.
The pair met at running club Chorlton Runners. Valentine introduced Green to parkrun. Speaking to local news publications afterwards, Valentine said the proposal had been in the planning for six months. “I had been dying to tell everyone but largely managed to keep it a secret. It was her 100th run and I just wanted to make it that extra bit special. Stacey was certainly not expecting what happened.”
What everyone's reading
Green said, "I was just totally thrilled and overcome really and said yes at once".
Congratulations to the happy couple!
