"Prior to the shark attack, I took running for granted. Now I run because I can."

Mike Coots was just 18 when he was bitten by a tiger shark whilst surfing off the coast of Kauai (one of the Hawaiian islands). He lost most of his right leg below the knee, but in an unlikely twist, the now 38-year-old has became a shark conversationist and still regularly dives with sharks to help raise awareness about the ongoing plight of this species.

Whilst being fitted for a surfing prosthetic, Mike was given a running blade to try out and he's never looked back, now mentoring other amputees on over coming the challenges that arise from limb loss.
