Did you know, a fully grown, male ostrich can run up to 45mph? Luckily for the drivers on the A12 last night, escaped ostrich ‘Colin’ was out for more of a gentle jog, as he ran between lanes on the busy road during rush hour traffic.
Drivers were forced to slow down and change lanes to avoid hitting the bird, and plenty took to Twitter to share videos of the bird running away as two men tried to catch him.
Reports from last night show five mile traffic jams as cars were brought to a standstill by the bird.

Luckily for Colin, he was returned to owner Debbie Johnson unharmed. Johnson confirmed in a later Facebook post that he was the same ostrich who escaped to run along the same road a year ago, “Yes, it is Colin the same one as last year. He’s home safe now and very sorry for causing chaos again” Johnson wrote.
