If you’re missing your Saturday morning parkrun, you’ll be excited to hear about (not)parkrun - a virtual 5K event parkrunners can take part in during lockdown. (not)parkrun launched a week ago and 30,000 runners have already logged their efforts - here’s how you can join in.
What is (not)parkrun?
(not)parkrun is asking registered parkrunners to walk, jog or run 5K on any day of the week and submit their time online. Runners can only submit one time each day per week and age grading will be displayed in the results table.
Parkrun are encouraging runners not to do their 5K on their normal parkrun course, with organisers writing, ‘You can walk, jog, or run your 5k anywhere you like (providing it is safe to do so). In your garden, to and from your house, it doesn’t matter where your 5k is. We definitely do not want parkrunners turning up to their usual parkrun course at parkrun time’.
What everyone's reading
Unfortunately, for runners who are clocking up parkruns in an attempt to get one of those sought-after milestone t-shirts, these (not)parkruns will not count towards any parkrun milestones. Organisers have also been keen to reiterate that (not)parkrun is not replacing parkrun, which will hopefully return once COVID-19 restrictions ease.
