Last Sunday, rapper Lil Nas X was one of 25,000 to run the New York City Half Marathon, finishing with a time of 2:32:53. The 'Industry Baby' singer opted for some less-than-ideal footwear for the occasion.
The 24-year-old rapper completed the half marathon while wearing a pair of Coach’s Distressed High Top Sneakers, himself a brand ambassador for the fashion house. Curiously, the 'Old Town Road' artist opted for a pair of white trainers, not his own colourway, in collaboration with the brand.
The hitmaker, whose real name is Montero Hill, attempted to buy a more aerodynamic pair before the race started but could not do so in time, according to Page Six. He paired the white trainers with a St. Patrick’s Day-appropriate green half-marathon shirt and black shorts.

Before clocking the 13.1 miles on Sunday, the rapper was said to have never run more than three miles, but he had Roberto Mandje, a New York Road Runners coach, fresh off helping Casey Neistat run a sub-three-hour marathon, in his corner to help him cross the finish line.
'Great day introducing @LilNasX to the beauty and magic of running and racing. Congrats to all 2024 #UnitedNYCHalf participants,' Mandje said on X after the event, who opted out of running in high tops for the race.
