· Tried your shoes and kit on a long run

· Found out how to get to the start 90 minutes before the gun goes
· Made a pace plan and ideally written it upside down on your race number where you can see it
· Got plenty of sleep
· Stayed off your feet
· Eaten well and kept your fluid levels topped up
· Decided exactly where to meet your friends or family after the finish, and arranged an emergency contact for you all to ring if the plan goes awry.
Race-day kit list
· Vest or shirt with race number pinned to it
· Race-day shoes with ChampionChip properly taped to it; socks
· Shorts and/or tights to run in
· Optional light gloves, gilet or light jacket
· Blister patches, emergency money, optional energy gels, maybe in small bumbag
· Old disposable long-sleeved top and leggings for keeping warm at the start, energy drink for before the start, optional dustbin liner with head and armholes for before the start
· Race instructions and travel information
For your baggage bag
· Suncream
· Petroleum jelly if you chafe
· Roomy, comfortable trainers for after the race
· Warm change of clothes
· Waterproofs
· Money
· Post-race energy drink and food
