Hi, Team.

In this episode of The Amazing Runner’s World Show, Jeff and Aly discuss the most common mistakes new runners make. See why we disagree about the value of a warmup for those just beginning, but are in alignment on the need to patiently build a base before signing up for a long race like a marathon. The previous episode of The Amazing Runner’s World Show was made available for you to watch thanks to our partners at On. We’ve been testing On’s running shoes since 2012, and On asked us to give you all a look at our process to understand what goes in to our shoe reviews. In addition to road testing of every model by our 300 local wear-testers, we put each shoe through a battery of mechanical tests to give you accurate measurements for weight, stack height, heel-to-toe drop, cushioning, flexibility, and energy return. Jeff Dengate
Runner-in-Chief

Jeff is Runner-in-Chief for Runner’s World and the director of product testing. He has tested and reviewed running shoes, GPS watches, headphones, apparel, and more for nearly two decades. He regularly tests more than 100 pairs of shoes each year, and once had a 257-day streak running in different models. Jeff can usually be found on the roads, racing anything from the mile to a marathon, but he also enjoys racing up mountains and on snowshoes. When he’s not running, you’ll probably find him hanging from a ladder making repairs and renovations to his house (he’s also director of product testing for Popular Mechanics).

She loves watching reality competition shows, playing board games with her husband and taking naps with her dog.
